The HeartofNewark project

'HeartofNewark' is a local not-for-profit initiative, created to support the small independent retailers of central Newark on Trent - the little shops dotted around the market town that make the Newark shopping experience so special and unique.

You've heard the reports about 'cloned' towns, where big retail chains have slowly replaced the local stores to produce identical, characterless places? Well, we don't want that to happen to our Newark... ...so we're fighting back!

By highlighting the more unique retailers of Newark, we believe we can do our bit to better guarantee Newark retains its unique stores and retail charm.

to ensure every independent retailer in
central Newark has online presence

We recognise that it's not the highest priority for small businesses, in terms of either time or money. But we do think it's an important step in being found.

So we've searched for every shop online. Where we've found a website, we've linked to it. But where we couldn't find a webpage, we've created one - even if that page just contains contact information. We've then added each retailer to our shopping and street map indexes, and submitted them to search engines, so they can more easily be found.
